Each year, music lovers everywhere await the announcement of Grammy Awards nominees and mark their calendars to see the performances and winners. These nominees are the best of the best, proving that they have what it takes to top the charts.
The 59th annual Grammy Awards will premiere Sunday, Feb. 12. We have seen quite a few Grammy-winning artists and nominees in our very own Showplace Theatre and we plan to see even more this year. Our long list of Riverwind entertainers includes more than 30 Grammy winners and 150 Grammy nominees!
As far as 2017 nominees are concerned, we’ve hosted Willie Nelson (nominated for Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album, “Summertime: Willie Nelson Sings Gershwin), Dierks Bentley (nominated for Best Country Duo/Group Performance “Different For Girls” with Elle King), Loretta Lynn (nominated for Best Country Album, “Full Circle”), Vince Gill (nominated for Best American Roots Song, “Kid Sister,” and Best Americana Album, “Kid Sister”) and Kris Kristofferson (nominated for Best Americana Album, “The Cedar Creek Sessions”), to name a few! To see a full list of the nominees, head to the official Grammy website.
By the way, have you purchased tickets to see Grammy nominee Kris Kristofferson perform here at the Showplace Theatre on April 8? He’ll be here performing with Merle Haggard’s Strangers featuring Ben and Noel Haggard. Kristofferson is a big name in Grammy history with five wins and 10 nominations throughout his career. We have our fingers crossed for a big win this year, Kris!
Speaking of past Grammy nominees and winners coming to Riverwind, we hope you already purchased your tickets to see the sold out Oak Ridge Boys (five wins, 10 nominations) on Jan. 27. Plus, don’t miss your chance to see Foreigner (three Grammy nominations) on Feb. 10 and Styx (one Grammy nomination) on March 17.
